April 2005

A new marketing brochure, "Investing in the Future of South Perry, West Broadway, Holy Family, Hillyard" is now available! (1,257 KB) Large File! This brochure promotes the Centers and Corridors designated by the City of Spokane Comprehensive Plan, which are a fundamental strategy for Spokane's physical, economic, and social growth.

Comstock and Manito/Cannon Hill Neighborhoods plan joint Open House on Grand District Plans.  Comments will be taken on April 27 at 7:00pm at Sacajawea Middle School.   After a year and a half of work by neighbors in the Comstock, Manito/Cannon Hill, and Rockwood neighborhoods, three potential development plans for the Grand District Center have emerged. Citizens will have a chance to view and comment on these proposed plans will be on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at Sacajawea Middle School, 401 E. 33rd Ave.

Once all comments have been recorded and discussions have taken place, these proposed plans will move forward to the City Plan Commission for a workshop on Wednesday, May 11.

The Grand District Center is one of the centers and corridors identified in the City's Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 2001 following an extensive citizen process. The Grand District Center essentially would cover the area around Grand Boulevard between 29th and 37th avenues. The proposed plans for the Center include proposed changes to land use designations and to the zoning that shapes how development happens. Neighbors spent months wrangling over the questions of how growth should be handled.
