Short Course on Local Planning
Wednesday, February 10th - 6:30p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Spokane Valley Centerplace Auditorium
The “Short Course on
Local Planning” is designed to provide basic education about land use
planning to the citizens of Washington. It is being coordinated and
hosted by the Washington State Department of Commerce and co-hosted by
Washington Cities Insurance Authority.
The speakers will include
a land use attorney and planners and topics covered will include an
overview of the legal basis of planning in Washington State, an overview
of comprehensive planning (and involving citizens in the process), and
the tools and techniques available for implementing a comprehensive
plan, while maintaining good working relationships among the Planning
Commission, local elected officials, and professional staff.
The Short
Course is geared to those new to local planning either planning
commissioners or elected officials. There is no charge for the

Kendall Yards
The Kendall Yards
Preliminary Plat and Planned Unit Development (PUD) were approved by the
City of Spokane Hearing Examiner
in 2006. An updated plan, which reduces density and building massing and
scale, has been submitted to the City Hearing Examiner for review of the
proposed amendments to the approved plans. For more information about
